Congratulations to Jack Morgan | Betashares $5000 student grant winner

Jack Morgan

Congratulations to CQ University student, Jack Morgan, winner of the BetaShares ETF Student Grant for 2021.

Jack’s winning submission for an Ethical Diversified High Growth Cryptocurrency ETF (exchange code: DCCF) stood out for its unique design as an ‘all-in-one’ investment solution, with a clear target market in mind.

His fund submission strategically tapped into potential long term trends, particularly among younger investors: ethical investing, cryptocurrency and the rise of diversified funds.

Jack’s comprehensive marketing plan was tailored towards this target market, outlining a focus on digital channels and leveraging social media influencers to deliver content in an array of formats spanning educational videos, podcasts and virtual events.

Dean of the School of Business and Law at CQ University, Professor Lee Di Milia, congratulated Jack on his achievement.

“In a competitive market for high-quality talent, winning this grant is an indicator of commitment and demonstrating capability,” he said.

Ocean no barrier

Jack Morgan’s study background is far from usual, completing a Bachelor of Property (Financial Planning) remotely onboard a navy ship. His passion for financial planning and advice was ignited after reading books given to him by his instructor onboard, such as ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter, and ‘Motivated Money’ by Peter Thornhill.

These books inspired Jack by highlighting that when money-associated anxieties are alleviated, people are able to focus on the things they love doing without having to rely on their salary alone – reaping other benefits life has to offer, such as the time and freedom to complete passion projects.

“Financial freedom isn’t necessarily about getting rich. It’s about how you can escape the rat race, set yourself up to not rely on super alone, and ensure that you and your family are comfortable and safe by having a good plan,” he said.

What the future holds

Jack intends to fast-track his degree and may look to become involved in the fintech space, with a view to transforming financial planning and Australian wealth creation.
